Bio
Hi! Welcome to my little corner of the world.
I am Brandi Cox, a successful business owner and an up-and-coming author who is devoted to helping others believe in themselves. Once bogged down with a negative mindset and limited growth potential I understand how difficult it is to change. My memoir In Better Hands depicts my journey from depression to belief. Belief in myself, and my accomplishments. It is my hope that my story can provide you with the encouragement needed to take the first step, to believe in yourself.
As a single, working mom I obtained my Bachelor of Business Administration from King University at the most inconvenient time imaginable. It wasn’t easy, but it was one of the most rewarding accomplishments of my life. My grit and tenacity are what ushered me through to graduation.
While pursuing my degree, I worked as a Community Manager for the American Cancer Society. Working with cancer patients and their families helped me heal from losing both of my parents. The people that I met around the relay track were like no others. They had felt pain and fought death. Some survived and others succumbed to the disease, but the love and desire to obliterate cancer bonded us together. The inspiration I gleaned from the cancer patients and their families will forever be held in my heart.
In my role as the Entrepreneurship Coordinator at the University of Virginia’s College at Wise I worked with entrepreneurs, town government, and state agencies to build a prosperous ecosystem for local business owners. These relationships revealed both the difficulties and rewards that small business owners have. I learned the importance of small businesses and localities working together to support one another.
As a mom to two children Avery (8), Braden (15) I serve as a full-time chauffeur to two kids who have far too many plans. A pretty good cook and laundry manager. When I am not fully engrossed in one or more of my primary responsibilities, I am also a co-owner and manager of a fitness facility in Wise. My days have transformed from boredom and depression to hectic and exciting. I wouldn’t have it any other way. I can make it through any day with coffee, joggers, and dry shampoo!
My first book, In Better Hands, scheduled to release in Spring 2023 makes use of memories from my past to discuss how addiction, adoption, death, and suicide affected my life’s trajectory. Through my path of forgiveness and understanding I realized that I was indeed exactly where and with whom I was supposed to be.
In our free time our family enjoys visiting historical sights and museums, going hiking, and visiting Dollywood.
